I have been an active astrophysicist and astronomer for over 30 years, and have conducted research at Caltech, and taught physics and astronomy at leading liberal arts colleges such as Pomona College, Soka University and Yale-NUS College in Singapore. This experience roots my painting in the interfaces between knowledge and mystery, and in the explorations of earth and space.
My work arises from an appreciation of realism and technique, which has been furthered by some late-in-life training at the Laguna College of Art and Design, where I added professional representational art training to my self-taught practice.
Some of the paintings are landscapes viewed in day or night, while others are abstract representations of geometry, space and time. All convey the beauty and mystery of our universe.
I will be exhibiting paintings at regional art events and also may be painting outside with the Laguna Plein Art Painters Association.
